a little bit about me and my work...

Hello!

My name is Teresa Rae Treen [Teresa R T] and I am a Visual Artist and Musician based in Nova Scotia, Canada. I specialize in vibrant acrylic paintings on canvas, and am an avid pianist and guitarist.

My involvement in the creative world has been life-long (through painting, writing, and making music), and was self-instructed until I completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in Visual Arts, in 2019. I have also been guided by an exponential thirst for knowledge, which ultimately led to my enrollment in a Bachelor of Science, also in 2019. My interest in a variety of subjects is clear not only in my education, but also in the style of my work: although many of my pieces are objectively rooted in music, I have a wide range of still-life, landscape, and abstract work as well.

Colour and vibrance are the driving components in my pieces, and I tend to lean into the tones that invoke an emotional response. I am also greatly passionate about music, and have been playing songs by ear since I was 5 years old; because of this, my work draws largely from the essence of musical expression. Although not every painting pays homage to the music world, my palettes almost always reference the vibrant hues of stage lighting and concert performance.

My work can be found all across North America, including in 9 Canadian Provinces and over 10 American States.
